Job Summary
We are seeking a Lead – Performance Marketing to take charge of and scale our performance marketing efforts across all paid channels for our e-commerce business. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on executing full-funnel Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) and e-commerce growth strategies, encompassing acquisition through retention. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in key e-commerce metrics, including Return on Advertising Spend (ROAS), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Average Order Value (AOV), contribution margin, and repeat purchase rates.
Responsibilities
- Own the performance marketing strategy and execution across all e-commerce channels, including Meta, Google (Search, Shopping/PMax, Display, YouTube), Amazon, and emerging paid platforms.
- Plan, launch, and optimize full-funnel marketing campaigns, such as prospecting, retargeting, catalog/dynamic product ads, and retention campaigns.
- Manage the performance marketing budget across channels, optimizing spend to maximize blended ROAS and Marketing Efficiency Ratio (MER) while safeguarding contribution margin.
- Collaborate with product and Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) teams to enhance site and funnel-level conversion rates (CVR) and improve AOV.
- Execute always-on and peak-season campaigns, including sales events and new launches, while considering inventory-aware bidding and budget pacing.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reporting for e-commerce performance metrics (ROAS, CAC, AOV, CVR, MER, contribution margin, and repeat/Lifetime Value (LTV)) and present insights to leadership.
- Closely collaborate with catalog/merchandising, supply chain, creative, and analytics teams to align campaigns with inventory, margin, and promotional calendars.
- Optimize organic ranking and discoverability of products across marketplaces and site search by improving titles, keywords, listings, and ratings/reviews.
- Lead, mentor, and expand an in-house team of performance marketers by setting goals, reviewing work, and cultivating channel-specific expertise.
- Manage direct relationships with ad platform partners (Google, Meta, Amazon) to leverage beta features and receive account support.
- Monitor and adapt to changes in platform, attribution, and privacy (e.g., iOS/cookie deprecation) to refine strategy.
- Foster a strong culture of structured experimentation on creatives, audiences, bidding strategies, and promotions.
Qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience in performance marketing, predominantly in e-commerce/D2C, with at least 3–4 years managing multi-channel budgets at scale.
- Proven history of scaling paid campaigns on platforms such as Meta, Google Shopping/PMax, and Amazon or other marketplace advertising.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce unit economics — including ROAS, CAC, AOV, contribution margin, MER, repeat purchase rates, and LTV.
- Experience with significant monthly ad spend management, with accountability for achieving revenue, efficiency, and profitability targets.
- Hands-on experience with e-commerce analytics and tracking technologies (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Shopify/Magento analytics, Google Tag Manager, server-side tracking, Marketing Mix Modeling).
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento) and management of product feeds for Google and Meta.
- Knowledge of marketplace SEO and listing optimization strategies (e.g., Amazon A9, Flipkart search ranking) to enhance organic visibility.
- Experience handling critical sales events and seasonal demand with constrained inventory and margins.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor an in-house team, managing stakeholders across various functions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with marketplace advertising beyond Amazon, such as on platforms like Flipkart, Myntra, Meesho, or regional equivalents.
- Familiarity with creative testing frameworks and Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) for product listing pages and checkout flows.
- Exposure to marketing mix modeling (MMM) or incrementality testing in a retail/e-commerce context.
- Experience with retention and lifecycle marketing channels (e.g., email, SMS, push) and their interaction with paid acquisition efforts.
Experience
- A minimum of 8–10 years in performance marketing, focusing on e-commerce and D2C campaigns, with substantial experience in budget management.
