MF DB2 DBA
Job Summary
The MF DB2 DBA is responsible for the installation, customization, and maintenance of DB2 for z/OS and related products. This role is crucial for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of database systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Install, customize, and maintain DB2 for z/OS and related products.
- Utilize SMPE (System Modification Program/Extended) for software maintenance.
- Apply relational database concepts of DB2 in z/OS to optimize performance and tuning.
- Use DB2 tools from IBM and other vendors effectively.
- Plan and design databases, ensuring proper sizing and system support.
- Implement disaster recovery strategies and maintain documentation.
- Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis (RCA) for issues.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support to clients.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, specifically DB2 in z/OS.
- Proficiency in SMPE and DB2 tools from IBM and other vendors.
- Experience in performance tuning, database sizing, and system support.
- Understanding of ITIL processes and procedures.
- Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Educational qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Familiarity with additional database management systems.
- Knowledge of security best practices in database management.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in database administration, specifically with DB2 for z/OS.
Environment
- Work mode: Hybrid (combination of remote and in-office work).
- Full-time position with a requirement for on-call support.
Salary
- Estimated salary range: 3,500,000.
