MF DB2 DBA

Job Summary

The MF DB2 DBA is responsible for the installation, customization, and maintenance of DB2 for z/OS and related products. This role is crucial for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of database systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Install, customize, and maintain DB2 for z/OS and related products.
• Utilize SMPE (System Modification Program/Extended) for software maintenance.
• Apply relational database concepts of DB2 in z/OS to optimize performance and tuning.
• Use DB2 tools from IBM and other vendors effectively.
• Plan and design databases, ensuring proper sizing and system support.
• Implement disaster recovery strategies and maintain documentation.
• Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis (RCA) for issues.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support to clients.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, specifically DB2 in z/OS.
• Proficiency in SMPE and DB2 tools from IBM and other vendors.
• Experience in performance tuning, database sizing, and system support.
• Understanding of ITIL processes and procedures.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Educational qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Familiarity with additional database management systems.
• Knowledge of security best practices in database management.

Experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in database administration, specifically with DB2 for z/OS.

Environment

• Work mode: Hybrid (combination of remote and in-office work).
• Full-time position with a requirement for on-call support.

Salary

• Estimated salary range: 3,500,000.
