Job Summary

The Development Lead is responsible for guiding a development team in delivering new products, features, and fixes using an Agile approach. This role requires collaboration with the Product Owner, Developers, Quality Assurance specialists, and Architects to ensure the team meets its goals while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a development team to deliver new products, features, and fixes iteratively using an Agile approach.
• Provide technical input to the Product Owner and ensure alignment with product vision.
• Serve as the first point of escalation to remove impediments, maintain development velocity, and achieve committed sprint goals.
• Communicate and escalate issues clearly and promptly.
• Manage team dynamics, including daily operations and career development for team members.
• Actively participate in development work as a hands-on leader.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of existing and emerging technologies relevant to the role.
• Demonstrate effective software development leadership by creating, communicating, and executing a strong development vision and strategy.
• Influence the organization to commit to quality practices for successful product releases.
• Successfully manage a globally distributed team with both onshore and offshore components.
• Facilitate collaborative working in Agile teams to support the "potentially shippable" goal.
• Provide leadership across the organization to enable continuous improvement in software development best practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software development of complex applications.
• Excellent understanding of design principles and best practices.
• Experience leading Agile delivery teams.
• Proficiency in Java development, including microservices, unit testing, and Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with cloud and SaaS development, particularly Azure and/or AWS, as well as Docker and Kubernetes.

Preferred Skills

• IT-savvy with a solid understanding of technology and infrastructure needed to support the software development function, including tools and processes.

Experience

• Significant experience leading software development teams, particularly in an Agile environment.
