Job Summary

Mastek Technologies is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mainframe Developer to join our team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Mainframe technologies including COBOL and DB2, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. This role involves designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting mainframe-based applications that meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM on IBM Mainframe systems.
  • Analyze and understand complex business requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
  • Perform impact analysis, conduct code reviews, and optimize existing code for performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Participate in the end-to-end development life cycle – requirement gathering, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 6 to 12 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development.
  • Technical Skills: Strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
  • Understanding: Good understanding of Mainframe architecture and batch/online processing.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex systems.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with tools like Endevor, XPEDITER, or File-Aid.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and version control tools like Git.
  • Basic knowledge of integration with modern platforms/APIs is a plus.

Experience

  • 6 to 12 years of relevant experience in Mainframe development is required.
