Job Summary

As the Team Lead for General Accounting, you will oversee a team dedicated to ensuring the accurate and timely completion of Bank Reconciliation and related accounting functions. You will report to the Accounting & Reporting Manager and contribute to ABB's operational goals in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the Bank Reconciliation Services (BRS) team, ensuring timely recording of bank transactions in the Central Finance (CFIN) / ERP systems.
  • Coordinate with business units, Treasury, and Payroll teams regarding unallocated transactions to prevent carryover into subsequent months.
  • Maintain and oversee the exchange rate uploads in ERP systems, ensuring compliance with Control (CAR) requirements for monthly exchange rate reconciliations.
  • Review reconciled General Ledger (GL) accounts through the group tool to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct knowledge transition (KT) sessions and take over accounting activities for countries transitioning to Bangalore.
  • Standardize accounting processes across all clusters to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement newly developed programs designed to streamline accounting processes across all clusters.
  • Address internal and external audit queries by providing necessary documentation and clarifications.
  • Initiate quality improvement initiatives within the General Accounting team.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • Experience: 10-15 years of experience in general accounting, reporting, and journal entry processing. It is preferred to have 5-10 years of experience specifically in Bank Reconciliation activities in large organizations, along with team management experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience with Record to Report (R2R) processes.
    • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of SAP is mandatory.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and adaptability to various shift timings.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience in quality improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Experience

Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in general accounting, with a focus on reporting and bank reconciliation processes.

Environment

This position is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, and follows a work model that is either on-site or hybrid, depending on operational needs.
