VMWare Linux Administrator

Job Summary

The VMWare Linux Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization technologies. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues, ensuring the optimal performance of systems, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor VMware infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Configure, deploy, and manage virtual machines and associated resources.
• Perform system upgrades and patch management for Linux servers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Linux server issues, including performance and connectivity problems.
• Implement and manage backup and recovery solutions for virtualized environments.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support application deployment and systems integration.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
• Proficiency in VMware products including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Experience with networking concepts and protocols.
• Understanding of security best practices in a server environment.

Preferred Skills

• Certifications like VCP (VMware Certified Professional) or RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) are a plus.
• Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
• Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.)

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in managing and administering VMware and Linux environments.
