Engineer / Senior Engineer SCM E - Components Import

IPEC India Private Limited is involved in the Automotive, Electric Vehicle (EV), and Electronics Manufacturing industry, focusing on the import logistics and supply chain management of electronic components.
Job Summary
This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of electronic component (E-component) imports, import logistics, customs compliance, and oversight of local subcontract and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) partners. The incumbent will work closely with global suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal cross-functional teams to ensure timely material availability, cost-effective operations, and robust supply chain resilience for both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and EV programs.
Responsibilities

Electronic Component (E-Component) Import Management
- Manage the end-to-end import lifecycle for electronic components including ICs, MCUs, power modules, connectors, passive components, sensors, and EV-specific parts.
- Track global component availability, lead times, and coordinate with Tier-2/Tier-3 suppliers and authorized distributors.
- Manage open purchase orders and expedite actions for critical shortages or Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Conduct regular supplier reviews and drive corrective actions for delivery or quality issues.
- Maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and support dual-source/alternate-source qualification with engineering and quality teams.
- Support PPAP/APQP documentation requirements and align BOM changes with sourcing timelines.

Import Logistics & Customs Compliance
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers for air, sea, and courier shipments.
- Ensure timely filing and accuracy of import documentation such as commercial invoices and certificates of origin.
- Monitor customs clearance and resolve holds and classification disputes.
- Maintain import cost trackers and analyze landed costs against budget, driving cost optimization through Incoterm negotiation.
- Coordinate with Finance for advance remittance of import payments.
- Drive shipment visibility through logistics portals and internal trackers.

Local Subcontract / EMS Management
- Issue and track purchase orders/work orders to EMS partners and monitor build schedules.
- Coordinate kit preparation and reconcile BOM shortages before build release.
- Manage ECN/PCN implementation and ensure update control between internal PLM and EMS records.
- Identify and qualify new EMS/subcontract partners to improve capacity and capabilities.

Cross-functional & Reporting
- Maintain import and subcontract data in ERP (SAP) and other tracking tools for team visibility.
- Generate weekly and monthly supply chain reports including shortage lists and import pipeline.
- Participate in S&OP/material review meetings to represent supply chain risks and mitigation plans.
Qualifications

Education:
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), or Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.
- MBA in Supply Chain or Operations is preferred for Senior Engineer.

Experience:
- Engineer: 2-4 years in import sourcing, logistics coordination, or EMS management (automotive/electronics preferred).
- Senior Engineer: 4-8 years with demonstrated ownership of import programs and EMS management; EV/ADAS component experience is a strong plus.

Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with semiconductor supply chain and supplier relationships.
- Understanding EMS/PCB assembly processes and BOM management.
- Knowledge of APQP/PPAP and IATF 16949 supplier quality requirements.
- Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP and Excel/Google Sheets.

- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to work under time pressure.
- Problem-solving orientation with root-cause analysis abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience with EV E-component sourcing.
- Exposure to free trade agreements.
- Knowledge of component obsolescence management.
Experience
- 2-4 years for Engineer level and 4-8 years for Senior Engineer level in relevant fields.
Environment
- Work setting is full-time and on-site at the Bangalore, Karnataka location.
- General shift from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM IST with flexibility for overseas coordination.
- Occasional domestic and international travel for supplier audits.
