Job Summary
The HP-UX Systems Administrator will be responsible for the configuration, management, and maintenance of HP-UX servers and associated hardware. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and security of the company's IT infrastructure, supporting various operations through effective system administration and disaster recovery strategies.
Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain HP BladeSystem c7000 and c3000 enclosures.
- Install and recover systems using Ignite-UX.
- Manage Logical Volume Manager (LVM), RAID configurations, and implement effective backup strategies.
- Administer Veritas File System (VxFS), including creation, mounting, and performance tuning.
- Implement security policies, manage user access, and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
- Design and execute failover strategies and disaster recovery plans.
- Utilize Storage Checkpoints and snapshots for enhanced data protection.
- Set up and manage HP Serviceguard clusters for high availability.
- Maintain and support HP Integrity Virtual Machines (HPVM) and HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars).
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of HP-UX versions (11i v1, v2, v3).
- Expertise in configuring and maintaining HP BladeSystem enclosures.
- Proficiency with Ignite-UX for installations and recovery procedures.
- Experience with Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and RAID configurations.
- Familiarity with Veritas File System (VxFS).
- Knowledge of implementing security policies and conducting audits.
- Ability to execute disaster recovery and failover strategies.
- Understanding of Storage Checkpoints and snapshots for data management.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with additional HP hardware and software solutions.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting tools for system management.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in system administration with particular focus on HP-UX environments.
Environment
Typically based in a data center environment with potential on-call responsibilities. The work conditions may involve both in-office and on-site tasks, with a focus on critical systems oversight.
