The Opportunity: Architecting the Future of EngagementAs a Principal Architect at MoEngage,

you will not just design systems; you will define the technical trajectory of the company for the

next decade. We are looking for a visionary technologist to lead our "Journey Beyond 2025"—a

strategic pivot towards an AI-first, hyper-scale customer engagement platform.

You will hold the blueprint for our reliability, cost-efficiency, and next-generation capabilities. You

will be responsible for integrating massive-scale AI initiatives into our core distributed systems,

ensuring we remain not just a market leader, but a technology pioneer.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Vision & Strategy (Beyond 2025)

• Architect the AI Transformation: Spearhead the architectural design for MoEngage’s AI-native

capabilities. This includes building scalable inference pipelines, training infrastructure, vector

database management, and LLM orchestration layers.

• Future-Proofing Infrastructure: Define the "North Star" architecture that supports 100x growth in

data volume and complexity. Identify strategic inefficiencies and drive the adoption of paradigm-

shifting technologies (e.g. Zero Copy, Real-time Stream Processing).

• Strategic FinOps & Unit Economics: Take ultimate accountability for the cost-efficiency of our

cloud footprint. Design systems where cost scales sub-linearly with growth, specifically

managing the high-cost implications of GPU compute and AI workloads.

2. Technical Leadership & Execution

• Deep-Dive Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to go vertically deep into the network/

database level to solve "hard" problems regarding latency, throughput, and consistency in

distributed systems.

• Cross-Functional Orchestration: Translate vague business goals into concrete technical

roadmaps. Subdivide multi-year strategic initiatives into actionable monthly/quarterly execution

plans across multiple engineering verticals.

3. Mentorship & Culture

• Cultivate Engineering Excellence: Raise the bar on sustainable engineering by institutionalizing

best practices in observability, chaos engineering, and automated resiliency.

• Executive Advisory: Act as a trusted technical advisor to the business, helping them crack

complex integrations, understand customer challenges and help architect solutions

• Mentor the Mentors: Coach Tech Leads, Staff and Architects, helping them navigate complex

technical trade-offs and developing the next generation of architectural leaders at MoEngage.

What You'll Need:

Experience & Education

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a Principal/Chief

Architect role or equivalent.

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field.

Technical Mastery

• Hyper-Scale Distributed Systems: Proven track record of designing systems that handle millions

of transactions per second (TPS) and petabyte-scale data ingestion.

• Cloud Native Expert: Deep mastery of AWS/GCP/Azure ecosystems, including container

orchestration (K8s), service mesh, and multi-region active-active architectures.

• Database Architectures: Expert-level knowledge of various data stores (NoSQL, NewSQL,

Columnar, Time-series) and the ability to choose the right tool for high-throughput/low-latency

scenarios.

Leadership & Soft Skills

• Visionary Communication: Ability to write Vision docs• Product Thinking: You don't just build tech; you understand the "Why." You can articulate how

architectural decisions impact the customer experience, reliability and the P&L.

• Resilience & Maturity: A history of navigating high-pressure situations, resolving technical

disagreements with grace, and fostering a collaborative, psychological-safe environment.

Bonus Points

• Industry Recognition: You are a recognized figure in the tech community (published author,

frequent conference speaker, or open-source contributor).

• AI/ML Infrastructure: Hands-on experience architecting platforms for Generative AI/LLMs.

Familiarity with MLOps pipelines, Model Serving and Vector search technologies

• Legacy Modernisation: Proven success in strangulating monolithic architectures into

microservices/serverless patterns without downtime.
