Chief Of Staff | Scrabble & Jigsaw
Job Description
Chief of Staff | Founding Team | Mumbai
Role Summary
Most operators wait for institutions to be built. A rare few help build them.
We are building India’s first BFSI-focused postgraduate institution—based in Mumbai, co-created with leading Indian finance CEOs and practitioners. The goal: to produce modern finance professionals across Investments, Investment Banking, Markets, Risk, and Fintech.
This is not another education company. This is an attempt to define a category.
We are in the founding phase—where clarity is evolving, decisions are constant, and execution matters more than intent. We are looking for a Chief of Staff to operate at the centre of this build.
This is not a coordination role. Not an EA. Not a tracker.
You will be the operating nerve of the Founder’s Office—translating vision into decisions, decisions into execution, and execution into outcomes.
You will run the organisation’s operating rhythm, ensure alignment across teams, and make sure what gets committed is delivered—without drift or ambiguity.
You will be part of the founding leadership team.
What You’ll Own
- Own the Founder’s operating system—priorities, decisions, and follow-through across all workstreams
- Build and run internal cadence: weekly reviews, milestone tracking, and cross-functional alignment
- Translate strategy into clear, executable plans across teams
- Act as the primary interface between the founder and key stakeholders—internal and external
- Drive critical, unowned initiatives (fundraising prep, partnerships, product launches)
- Build institutional memory—capture decisions, context, and learnings
- Anticipate execution gaps early and solve proactively
- Create leverage for the Founder’s time and attention
- Partner closely with the fractional COO and functional leaders
Who This Is For
- 5–10 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, VC/PE, or high-growth startups
- Proven ability to operate in 0→1 or highly ambiguous environments
- Prior experience in education / ed-tech is strongly preferred
- Graduate from a top-tier institution (India or global)
- Strong strategic thinking with a clear bias for execution
- Exceptional communication—written, verbal, and structured thinking
- Highly organised in practice, not just in theory
- High ownership, low ego—focused on outcomes over visibility
- Deep interest in education, finance, and institution-building
Why This Role
You won’t just join early—you’ll help shape what this becomes.
If running the operating core of a category-defining institution sounds like the right problem—we should talk.
