Job Summary

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering efforts as we scale. This role will involve driving technical excellence, guiding high-performance teams, and collaborating with AI scientists to transition research into production. The successful candidate will also act as a trusted partner during sales conversations, shaping feasibility and feature discussions with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams specializing in Golang, cloud technologies, and systems.
  • Technical Strategy: Define and execute the engineering roadmap to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of our systems.
  • Research to Production: Collaborate closely with AI scientists to translate cutting-edge research into robust, production-ready systems.
  • System Design: Architect low-latency, high-concurrency distributed systems using technologies such as WebSockets, streaming APIs, and inference runtimes.
  • Customer Collaboration: Support sales and customer teams in feasibility assessments, solution architecture, and discussions around feature trade-offs.
  • Engineering Culture: Instill best practices related to code quality, testing, security, and DevOps (including CI/CD, observability, and scalability).
  • Cross-functional Influence: Partner with Product and Go-To-Market (GTM) teams to align engineering priorities with customer value.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong expertise in Golang (systems programming, concurrency, performance optimization).
    • Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services).
    • Proficient in containerized deployments utilizing Kubernetes and Docker.
    • Experience working with AI/ML researchers and transitioning experimental models into finalized production systems.
  • Leadership Ability: Proven track record of leading and scaling teams while being hands-on when necessary.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer Engagement: Experience with customer-facing technical discussions regarding feasibility and architecture trade-offs.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to speech/audio AI systems (ASR, TTS, NLP) or high-throughput real-time systems.
  • Previous experience in a startup or early-stage company environment.

Experience
