Job Summary
The Senior Cost Accountant will lead the cost and manufacturing finance agenda across Mochiko Group’s production facilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring end-to-end product costing, plant cost control, zero-based budgeting, and gross-margin and inventory governance at the group level. The incumbent will closely collaborate with plant operations, supply chain, and the corporate finance team to drive cost transparency, margin improvement, and disciplined inventory control across multiple manufacturing units.
Responsibilities
-
Product Costing & Cost Accounting
- Own standard costing, Bill of Materials (BOM) costing, and routing-based cost build-up across all product lines and Stock Keeping Units (SKUs).
- Establish, maintain, and periodically revise standard costs; analyze variances (material, labor, overhead) and drive corrective actions with plant teams.
- Compute and validate costs of production, cost of goods sold (COGS), and per-unit/per-pair costs across facilities.
- Ensure accurate overhead absorption, activity-based cost allocation, and cost-center accounting.
-
ERP / Production Module Ownership
- Act as finance owner of the ERP Production / Manufacturing module (e.g., SAP/SAP B1 PP, or equivalent) including production orders, BOM, routing, work-center rates, and order settlement.
- Ensure correct postings of material consumption, Work in Progress (WIP), by-products, scrap, and production confirmations; reconcile module output to financials.
- Partner with operations and IT to improve costing master data, cost-roll processes, and module-driven reporting accuracy.
-
Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) & Cost Control
- Lead the zero-based budgeting exercise for manufacturing and overhead cost centers, building budgets from activity drivers rather than prior-year baselines.
- Challenge and justify every cost line; identify and execute cost-optimization and waste-elimination opportunities across plants.
- Track budget versus actual performance, flag overruns, and enforce cost-control discipline.
-
Gross Margin Control (Group Level)
- Own gross-margin analysis at group, plant, product, and customer levels; identify margin leakages and drive improvement initiatives.
- Provide pre- and post-costing for new products, price revisions, make-versus-buy, and capacity-utilization decisions.
- Build margin bridges (volume, price, mix, cost) to explain movements to management and the board.
-
Inventory Control & Governance (Group Level)
- Govern inventory valuation (Raw Material, WIP, Finished Goods) across all units in line with applicable accounting standards (Ind AS / IFRS).
- Drive inventory controls—physical verification, cycle counts, aging, slow/non-moving and obsolescence provisioning, and book-to-physical reconciliation.
- Monitor inventory norms, days of inventory, and working-capital impact; coordinate group-wide stock audits across Noida and Dehradun on common cut-off dates.
-
MIS, Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare cost Management Information Systems (MIS), cost-audit records, and management dashboards; ensure timely and accurate monthly cost reporting.
- Support statutory cost audit, internal audit, and compliance under the Companies (Cost Records and Audit) Rules.
- Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and controllership on month-end close, provisioning, and management reviews.
Qualifications
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the footwear, leather, apparel, or FMCG/consumer manufacturing sector.
- Exposure to cost audit, lean/Kaizen cost initiatives, and capacity/utilization modeling.
- Familiarity with multi-location stock-audit coordination and working capital management.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in cost accounting and finance, ideally within manufacturing environments.
Environment
- The position is plant-based and can be located at either Noida (Uttar Pradesh) or Dehradun (Uttarakhand). The role involves collaboration with various plant teams and may require travel between locations.
