Job Summary
The Senior Tax Analyst – Indirect Taxation is responsible for managing various aspects of indirect taxation, particularly in the context of Goods and Services Tax (GST) audits and litigation matters. This role contributes to maintaining compliance with taxation laws and ensuring timely interactions with government authorities.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end GST audits including handling notices, appeals, and related matters.
- Review all draft replies for notices, show cause notices (SCNs), and appeals to ensure timely closure while adhering to statutory submission timelines.
- Collaborate with consultants and internal stakeholders to finalize draft replies for various notices, SCNs, and appeals, ensuring timely submissions.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of details submitted to government authorities, including key reconciliations.
- Review monthly GST returns, annual returns, and maintain proactive data and reconciliation readiness to manage future audits.
- Attend departmental visits to handle Personal Hearings (PH) for GST-related matters.
- Track all open matters and ensure timely submissions to tax authorities.
- Maintain a trail of notices reply along with automation, past back-up data for all submissions, and inputs for future submissions.
- Provide assistance in advisory roles regarding tax-related changes and implementation of key changes introduced by tax authorities.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5-7 years of experience in indirect taxation, specifically handling GST audits and litigation.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth understanding of GST compliance processes for monthly and annual return filing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel, Power BI, and SQL.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management capabilities.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with a Big Four accounting firm is preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in indirect taxation, with a strong focus on GST audits and litigation matters.
