Job Summary

As an Engineering Manager at Headout, you will be responsible for leading a product engineering pod, focusing on both technical and personnel aspects of the team. You will design scalable systems, align technological efforts with business outcomes, foster a high-performance engineering culture, and drive impactful product experiences for travelers around the world.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor a team of engineers, making critical decisions in design, architecture, and implementation for scalable, efficient systems.
• Ownership of Outcomes: Take full responsibility for critical projects that drive measurable business impact, closely co-owning problem statements with product managers.
• Impact at Scale: Shape high-impact initiatives that influence millions of users across more than 100 cities.
• Autonomy: Execute end-to-end critical projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams while retaining decision-making independence.

Qualifications

• Experience: 7+ years in software development, with at least 2 years in engineering leadership roles.
• Technical Expertise: Strong background in system design, architecture, and both backend and frontend development.
• Cloud & Containerization: Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Distributed Systems: Proficiency in building scalable distributed systems, microservices, and high-performance applications.
• Business Acumen: Ability to align technical strategies with business and product goals for meaningful impact.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional focus on performance, reliability, and scalability when tackling engineering problems.
• Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing stakeholder interactions, project execution, and collaboration with product teams.
• Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
