Business Head/COO – E-Commerce & Private Label

Job Summary

The Business Head/COO will be responsible for leading the company’s e-commerce and private label business, driving growth and ensuring profitability. This role requires a strategic mindset to balance growth with operational efficiency, focusing on the expansion and optimization of the e-commerce platform, and enhancement of the customer experience in alignment with the company's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth & Financial Performance

    • Develop and execute a roadmap to scale e-commerce revenue while maintaining profitability.
    • Define and implement a P&L-driven growth strategy.
    • Optimize e-commerce pricing and margin structures to ensure sustainable cash flow and profitability.
    • Build and institutionalize management dashboards & control systems.
  • E-Commerce & Omni-Channel Expansion

    • Streamline the relationship between e-commerce and physical stores to enhance omni-channel operations.
    • Identify additional revenue streams while maintaining profitability.
    • Implement cross-functional projects across e-commerce & private label in collaboration with offline, finance & tech teams.
    • Optimize inventory management to prevent overstocking/stock-outs.
  • Customer Experience & Retention

    • Devise profit-improvement and revenue-building initiatives based on consumer insights.
    • Utilize customer data analytics to improve Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), deepen retention strategies, and acquire new customers.
  • Leadership & Team Development

    • Build a strong second line of management in both divisions while leading by example.
    • Institutionalize periodic reviews with the on-ground team driving these meetings for clear actionables.
    • Detail-orientation, speed, and frugality in driving results via a small, entrepreneurial team.
  • Marketing & Brand Management

    • Continuously improve organic & digital marketing investments and strategy.
    • Work closely with the marketing team to strengthen online presence and customer engagement.
    • Build and scale a highly regarded brand in the online space, maintaining the brand’s core values while expanding.

Qualifications

  • Experience in e-commerce or retail business, preferably in the Indian ethnic wear sector.
  • Proven track record of scaling a D2C or e-commerce brand with a focus on profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Experience working in family business or founder-led organizations, with a strong understanding of P&L management.
  • Familiarity with omni-channel retail strategies, inventory management, and digital marketing.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in driving revenue growth and optimizing working capital.
  • Deep understanding of customer behavior, especially in the Indian ethnic wear market.
  • Ability to balance operational efficiency with strategic growth initiatives.
  • Hands-on leader with a problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach.

Preferred Skills

  • Comfort with Tamil language and understanding of South Indian culture is preferred.

Experience

  • Significant experience in e-commerce or retail business, with a focus on the Indian ethnic wear market and omni-channel strategies.

Environment
