Job Summary

The Senior Manager - Production is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire production process within the organization. This role ensures the efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing of auto-components by coordinating various production activities, managing resources, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The position plays a critical role in maintaining production schedules, ensuring compliance with quality and environmental standards, and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, bought-outs, and consumables.
  • Optimize line balancing and resource allocation to meet TAKT time and cycle times, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Manage machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, and finishing operations related to auto-components.
  • Monitor key production KPIs such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), yield, rework percentage, downtime, and productivity.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process sheets.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to maintain defect-free production and address quality issues.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints and internal non-conformities.
  • Lead, guide, and motivate supervisors, team leaders, and operators to achieve production targets.
  • Plan and manage manpower across shifts, promoting multiskilling and ongoing training.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and OHSAS standards (Occupational Health and Safety).
  • Monitor environmental aspects such as energy consumption, waste management, and emissions.
  • Control production costs, reduce scrap and rework, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Implement low-cost automation and poka-yoke (error-proofing) solutions.
  • Support capex planning for new machinery, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Kaizen practices.
  • Promote 5S and visual management on the shop floor.
  • Benchmark processes against best-in-class practices.
  • Liaise with SCM, QA, Maintenance, Design, and Dispatch teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Submit Management Information System (MIS) reports on production performance, losses, and improvement actions.

Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience: 12-15 years in production management within the auto-components or manufacturing industry
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of production planning and scheduling
    • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and 5S
    • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS standards
    • Proficiency in cost control and automation solutions
    • Experience with quality management systems and defect reduction
    • Ability to analyze KPIs such as OEE, yield, and downtime
  • Soft Skills:

    • Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Poka-yoke and low-cost automation

Experience

  • 12-15 years of relevant experience in production management within the automotive or manufacturing sector
  • Proven track record of leading large teams and managing complex production processes
