Director of Engineering (D2C)
Job Summary
The Director of Engineering will play a pivotal role in defining and executing the post-purchase technology roadmap and architecture. This position is crucial for improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction in the organization.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to define and execute the post-purchase technology roadmap and architecture.
- Lead design and development of systems supporting returns, replacements, exchanges, service requests, and operational workflows.
- Own and manage integrations with SAP systems, analytics platforms, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), logistics partners, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Define and maintain a scalable, modular architecture leveraging microservices, serverless functions, and event-driven design patterns.
- Drive end-to-end reliability, observability, and automation across all post-purchase services.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Operations, business, and customer experience (CX) teams to deliver outcomes that improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Establish engineering best practices, including code review standards, API governance, and documentation discipline.
- Mentor and guide Engineering Managers and Tech Leads to build strong engineering teams and promote technical excellence.
- Implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and tracking mechanisms, driving post-purchase analytics and reporting initiatives.
Qualifications
- 10–13 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3-4 years in a Director or Senior Engineering Leadership role.
- Proven experience architecting and scaling e-commerce or Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) and offline post-purchase systems integrating with SAP, WMS, or logistics platforms.
- Strong technical expertise in backend and cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and modern DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in Node.js/NestJS, event-driven design, and large-scale API integrations.
- Hands-on experience with AWS architecture including Kubernetes, serverless deployments, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience leading data and analytics integrations, building APIs or pipelines for internal reporting systems.
- Outstanding leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of agile frameworks and engineering management best practices.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with large-scale e-commerce platforms.
- Familiarity with industry trends and advancements in technology relevant to post-purchase systems.
Experience
- Minimum of 10-13 years in software engineering.
- At least 3-4 years in a directorial or senior engineering leadership capacity.
