Job Summary

The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for managing the installation, configuration, and support of Oracle databases. The role requires a focus on performance tuning, troubleshooting, and ensuring the database environment is optimized for availability and efficiency. This position contributes to the overall success of database management within the organization, ensuring a robust, reliable, and secure database infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Support database installation and configuration for Oracle environments.
  • Perform regular monitoring, housekeeping, and ensure prompt upgrade/patching of database systems.
  • Conduct thorough troubleshooting and root cause analysis of Oracle database issues, ensuring data integrity and system performance.
  • Execute performance tuning initiatives and optimize SQL and PL/SQL queries to enhance database efficiency.
  • Manage Oracle Golden Gate for data replication and availability.
  • Oversee Backup and Restore operations and implement Data Guard for high availability.

Qualifications

  • 8-12 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with:
    • Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management)
    • Real Application Clusters (RAC), including LMS and LMD background processes.
    • Data Guard and its various availability modes.
    • SQL and PL/SQL for database manipulation and management.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning methodologies.
  • Understanding of Oracle Golden Gate for data replication.
  • Educational qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Sybase and Unix environments.
  • Knowledge of automation skills to streamline DBA tasks.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience managing Oracle databases with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical abilities.

Environment

  • Shift Timing: UK Shift – 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM IST, with on-call support as needed.
  • Working Model: Hybrid – 3 days in the office in Bangalore, and 2 days from home.
