Network Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Network Engineer with over 7 years of experience to join our team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network implementation, design, and planning, and will be responsible for solving network-related problems while providing support and mentorship to junior team members. This role will play a key part in ensuring high technical standards and effective communication within the team and across different engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Network Design team to assess potential risks during high-level and low-level design reviews.
• Identify and resolve network-related issues assigned to the team, coordinating with external teams as necessary, and conducting post-issue analysis for future prevention.
• Manage the provisioning, implementation, and commissioning of new services.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for various engineers, simplifying complex information to aid understanding during Change review sessions.
• Mentor junior team members, providing guidance to help them develop confidence and technical skills.

Qualifications

• Experience: 7+ years in network implementation, design, and planning.
• Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in hardware platforms such as Cisco and Alcatel/Nokia.
  • Proficiency in fiber optic network deployments (OLT, FTTP, FTTH, FTTC) and relevant protocols (IPoE, PPPoE, DHCP).
  • Working knowledge of Cisco IOS or IOS-XR (Cisco NCS5K, ASR9K) and Alcatel/Nokia TiMOS (BNG, 7750 SR series).
  • Experience with routing/switching technologies including Segment Routing, MAP-T, IP/MPLS, LDP, ISIS, BGP, EVPN, ACLs, QoS.
  • Must hold CCNP Service Provider accreditation or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document processes and facilitate smooth handovers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Huawei CX600 switches and Alcatel 7210 platform.
• Familiarity with cloud-based systems.
• Basic knowledge of version control systems (GIT), project management tools (JIRA), and programming languages (Python or others).
• Understanding of Open-config and vendor-specific NETCONF-YANG models, along with JSON and XML payloads for network automation.

Experience

• A minimum of 7 years of comprehensive experience in network design, implementation, and planning is required.
