Job Summary
As a Data Architect at Lloyds Metals & Energy, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and designing comprehensive data platforms during an exciting phase of post-merger expansion. You will be responsible for overseeing data governance and quality while leading a team dedicated to integrating multiple data sources. This position demands strategic vision and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders effectively.
Responsibilities
- Architect scalable data platforms that integrate cloud services (Azure, AWS, Databricks) with on-premise systems.
- Lead Agile and Scrum teams to scope and prioritize projects in collaboration with plant managers, senior leaders, and vendors.
- Implement frameworks for data quality, lineage, governance, and security tailored for industrial operations (including MES, SCADA, and ERP systems).
- Navigate organizational hierarchies effectively while employing political savvy to influence without formal authority.
- Hire, mentor, and establish a high-performing data department from scratch.
- Ensure the design of end-to-end data platforms across eight disparate sources (SAP and Microsoft stack) with a focus on foundational data quality and governance.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience as a Data Architect or Lead Data Engineer with a focus on delivering full data platforms (not just pipelines).
- Proven ability to lead Agile teams with experience in hybrid cloud and on-premises technologies (experience with SAP, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Databricks is a plus).
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, mining, or energy sectors, particularly with plant floor data handling, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and predictive maintenance.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of translating business needs into actionable technical roadmaps.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with large-scale data integration and delivery systems.
- Familiarity with data governance best practices and compliance standards in industrial settings.
- Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in data visualization tools.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years and up to 10 years of relevant experience, particularly in sectors associated with industrial data management.
