IMPACT AT EVOCS
As a Microsoft Fabric Architect within EVOCS’ consulting practice, you will lead clients
through discovery, solution design, and delivery of modern analytics platforms on Microsoft
Fabric and the broader Microsoft data stack. You’ll own architecture decisions
end‑to‑end—spanning OneLake, Lakehouse/Warehouse, Data Factory (Pipelines),
Notebooks/Spark, Dataflows Gen2, Semantic Models, and Power BI—and translate
business goals into secure, governable, high‑performance solutions. This is a client‑facing,
hands-on role that blends advisory, architecture, and enablement to help customers ship
value quickly and safely.
WHAT YOU WILL DO | JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Client discovery, solution architecture & roadmaps
●
Run workshops to define personas, data products, KPIs, and success metrics; map
current → target state.
●
Produce reference architectures and roadmaps (Now/Next/Later) tailored to each
client’s needs and constraints.
●
Author clear architecture decision records (ADRs), estimates, and SOW inputs;
present options and trade‑offs to executives.
Fabric platform design & implementation
●
Design secure, scalable Fabric environments: domains, workspaces, capacities
(Pro/Premium/Fabric), and connectivity (gateways/VNet data gateway).●
Architect Lakehouse/Warehouse patterns (Bronze/Silver/Gold), Delta/Parquet
storage, and Direct Lake/Import/DirectQuery strategies for semantic models.
●
Orchestrate pipelines with Data Factory/Pipelines and Dataflows Gen2; enable
engineering with Notebooks/Spark and SQL where appropriate.
●
Where relevant, leverage Real‑Time capabilities (Event Streams, KQL databases) for
streaming analytics.
Governance, security & compliance
●
Implement tenant/workspace governance, role design, RLS/OLS, sensitivity labels,
dataset/report certification, and retention.
●
Integrate with Microsoft Purview for catalog, lineage, and glossary; define
dataset/semantic model ownership and data contracts.
●
Establish guardrails for self‑service and “fusion teams” (business + IT) via a
pragmatic Center of Excellence (CoE) model.
Performance, reliability & cost optimization
●
Tune models and pipelines: partitioning, incremental refresh, semantic modeling
standards, and query performance analysis.
●
Monitor capacity health and concurrency; right‑size capacities and schedule
workloads to meet SLAs at sustainable cost.
●
Build observability: usage/adoption telemetry, refresh reliability, failure alerts, and
data‑quality checks.
DevOps & lifecycle management
●
Set up Git integration and deployment pipelines; enforce CI checks and promotion
(dev/test/prod) with rollback strategies.
●
Use Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit and automated validation (naming
conventions, BPA rules) for semantic models.
●
Document runbooks and support procedures; lead cutovers and hypercare.
Migration & modernization
●
Lead migrations from legacy BI/ETL (e.g., on‑prem, ADF/Synapse, Premium‑only
estate) to Fabric with minimal disruption.
●
Prioritize quick wins and phased adoption (coexistence patterns, semantic model
consolidation).
Enablement & thought leadership
●
Train client teams (analysts, engineers, admins) and publish concise playbooks, style
guides, and accelerator templates.
●
Contribute to EVOCS thought leadership with demos, talks, and case studies
showcasing Fabric best practices.WHAT YOU WILL BRING | REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
