Job Description
Member of Technical Staff
Company Overview
This is a pioneering company that supports teams in the fearless deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI). We are dedicated to advancing AI through rigorous, long-horizon simulation and programmatic verification, believing that true progress stems from innovative methodologies rather than merely scaling models.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Member of Technical Staff to spearhead the architecture and hands-on development of our AI-native, agentic platform. In this senior individual contributor (IC) and tech-lead role, you will have ownership of critical systems from design through production scale, setting the technical direction for our team and making high-stakes technical decisions.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build distributed, multi-tenant platforms with robust reliability, low latency, and fault tolerance.
- Design and deliver agentic / Large Language Model (LLM)-powered systems, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, tool-calling frameworks, agent orchestration, and evaluation/observability infrastructure.
- Lead integrations with third-party systems, including APIs, OAuth, permissioning, and secure application ecosystems.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards regarding code quality, testing, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), incident response, and on-call practices.
- Mentor and technically guide a team of engineers, conducting design reviews and removing obstacles to execution.
- Develop core platform services, primarily using Python or similar backend frameworks, with practical exposure to AI and LLM tooling and integration.
Qualifications
- Education: Strong academic pedigree with a degree from a top-tier engineering institution (IIT/NIT-tier or equivalent).
- Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience with significant involvement in startups, having built systems from 0 to 1 instead of just maintaining mature systems.
- Seniority: Prior experience as a tech lead or engineering lead, possessing ownership of architectural decisions and mentoring team members.
- Expertise: Deep hands-on knowledge in distributed systems, backend architecture, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
- AI Proficiency: Practical experience with modern AI/LLM systems, including agent frameworks, RAG, tool/function calling, prompt engineering, and AI observability.
- Track Record: Proven history of shipping production systems at scale, particularly in high throughput, multi-tenant, or high-reliability environments.
- Ownership Mentality: Strong sense of ownership, comfortable with ambiguity, and adept at driving projects from concept to production.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with advanced monitoring and observability tools.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud and application development.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years in software engineering, with notable exposure to startup environments and hands-on experience in developing systems from scratch.
