Job Summary
This role is critical in leading category packaging development by engaging key stakeholders to develop innovative packaging solutions and processes to ensure smooth execution of projects on time, at the right quality, and at optimum cost.
Responsibilities
- Lead packaging development of assigned product categories.
- Develop and propose innovative packaging solutions that enhance consumer experience, convenience, and brand appeal.
- Collaborate with product development, marketing, and design teams to translate consumer insights into packaging innovations.
- Identify and evaluate emerging packaging technologies, materials, and formats.
- Conduct root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Generate, analyze, and document data.
- Drive process improvement, value engineering, and competition mapping.
- Recommend solutions and make decisions in alignment with key stakeholders.
- Act as an individual contributor for the specified role.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5-6 years of experience in core packaging development in a leading Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company, with at least one year of experience in leading category packaging development independently.
- Educational Background: Post Graduation in Packaging, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science from a reputed institute, with a bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- Skills:
- Sound knowledge of different types of packaging materials (rigid and flexible), their applications, and various conversion processes.
- Good understanding of the packaging development process.
- Proactive, self-initiator, analytical, team player, risk-taker with good communication skills.
- Exposure to problem-solving tools.
- Exposure to mould management and plastic processing is an added advantage.
- A keen interest in packaging innovation and design thinking.
Preferred Skills
- Additional qualifications in plastic processing or tool making will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 5-6 years of relevant experience in packaging development, with a focus on FMCG.
