Job Summary

The SM - Legal role is crucial for managing litigation cases and providing legal guidance across various departments. This position ensures compliance with legal standards and contributes to the organization's goals by safeguarding its interests in real estate transactions and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the approach in managing litigation cases through discussions and follow-ups with external consultants and advocates.
  • Provide timely legal advice to other departments on concerns and queries with legal implications.
  • Examine contracts prepared by the Contracts team to implement legal controls and checkpoints.
  • Generate a knowledge repository for updates on laws, regulations, ordinances, and by-laws related to the real estate industry.
  • Review and approve all legal formalities for the formation of societies/associations, including the complete registration process and drafting of conveyance, sales, and lease deeds.
  • Conduct due diligence on properties to ensure clear and marketable titles.
  • Review documents utilized by the Business Development team at the preliminary project stage, including Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and terms and conditions.
  • Independently draft transaction documents for land purchases, development agreements, and joint venture agreements, negotiating with counterparties for closure.
  • Mentor and guide the Regional Legal teams to ensure compliance with plans and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent; additional qualifications such as LLM or relevant certifications are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of real estate laws and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills for legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple litigation cases simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in legal research and knowledge management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in real estate law and property management.
  • Familiarity with contract law and corporate governance.
  • Knowledge of legal software and document management systems.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a legal role, preferably within the real estate sector.

Environment

  • This position is based in Hyderabad and requires full-time, in-office work. The role may involve interactions with various internal departments and external legal consultants.
