COBOL Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled COBOL Developer to join our team. This role involves working on COBOL to Java migration projects, contributing to the modernization of our software solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the seamless transition of applications while maintaining the integrity of existing systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain COBOL applications in support of ongoing projects.
• Participate in the migration of COBOL applications to Java, ensuring a smooth transition.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions.
• Perform thorough testing and debugging of migrated applications to ensure functionality.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing COBOL systems.
• Document processes and procedures related to development and migration activities.

Qualifications

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in COBOL programming.
  • Familiarity with Java is preferred due to migration projects.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Japanese language (N3 level) is a good to have.
• Experience in mainframe technologies and databases.

Experience

• Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in COBOL development.
• Experience with COBOL to Java migration is a plus.
