Job Description
Position: Director: Investments – Venture Fund
Location: Mumbai
Summary of Role:
- The Director of Investments will play a key role in Investment decisions, setting up the Indian entity, any new capital raising, helping with fund strategy, investment analysis, generating trade ideas, jumping into existing businesses, etc. Whatever is needed. The Director will own and manage all relationships with portfolio companies, investors, and key financial stakeholders, and look to help shape the strategy and execution of new investment opportunities. With sound Investment strategies, deep knowledge of the Indian market, and the ability to manage young entrepreneurs you are expected to successfully lead the Venture Capital fund and guide portfolio companies.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating local fundraising activities and supporting the international fundraising efforts
- Developing and leading key enabling projects related to new fund formation
- Setting up the local team and implementing the organizational framework to make the team effective
- Identifying opportunity sets and leading our team in investing in tech start-ups – developing the deal flow pipeline
- Providing recommendations for new and upcoming deals
- Analysing existing deals across technology, private investments, and our operating companies
- Executing quick or deep-dive business analyses, strategic plans for M&A, capital raising, evaluation of opportunity sets, and investor relations
- Working directly with a robust network of investors and other partners that aligns with our vision and operating principles.
Requirements:
- Comes with a robust educational pedigree- MBA (Top tier institution) / CA + CFA as an added qualification (Preferable)
- Comes with 10+ years of experience, ideally in a Venture Capital Fund.
- Heavy tech venture capital experience
- Extreme character, talent, drive, and teaming ability
- An entrepreneurial nature and is not afraid to think outside the box
- Extreme bias to execute
- Demonstrated excellence in finance (including cash-flow analysis and forecasting) and investment decision making
- Willingness to work across a multitude of teams, capabilities, and projects
- Experience working directly with investors
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
