Senior Manager, Business Finance
Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Business Finance, will lead the Engineering & Product Finance vertical. This strategic role is responsible for providing financial visibility, cost governance, planning, and decision support across engineering, product, infrastructure, and cloud operations. The ideal candidate will act as a key business partner to senior leadership, helping to drive product investments, optimize cloud costs, improve gross margins, and support long-term scalability. This role requires deep analytical skills, strong financial modeling capabilities, and the ability to translate complex operational data into actionable insights that influence strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of Engineering & Product Finance: Manage financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis for engineering and product teams. Collaborate with leadership to evaluate investment priorities, resource allocation, and product roadmap trade-offs.
- Cloud Cost Monitoring & Optimization: Oversee cloud cost reporting, trend analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis. Partner with engineering and DevOps teams to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, track efficiency metrics, and support vendor negotiations.
- Annual Operating Planning (AOP), Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, prepare forecasts, monitor variances, and develop scenario models for headcount, infrastructure scaling, and strategic investments.
- Business Partnering & Decision Support: Provide financial insights to engineering and product leaders, support strategic initiatives, evaluate business cases, and present findings to senior management.
- Product P&L and Margin Analysis: Develop and enhance product-wise P&L reporting, analyze gross margins, and identify cost drivers to improve profitability and scalability.
- Process Improvement & Automation: Enhance reporting accuracy and timeliness through automation, streamline processes for cloud cost allocation, product cost tracking, and governance, and collaborate on system integrations.
- Strategic Projects: Lead ad-hoc financial analyses, cost optimization initiatives, vendor consolidation, pricing strategies, and support leadership reviews, board presentations, and investor communications.
Qualifications
- Qualified CA / MBA in Finance with 8 to 12 years of post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in Business Finance, FP&A, Strategic Finance, or Finance Business Partnering, preferably within SaaS, technology, cloud, media-tech, or high-growth startups.
- Strong understanding of cloud cost structures, technology infrastructure costs, SaaS unit economics, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior business, engineering, and product leaders.
- Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets, with experience in BI tools, cloud cost management tools, ERP systems, or planning software.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets and derive actionable insights.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing decision-making.
- Educational qualifications: CA or MBA in Finance.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in cloud cost optimization, vendor negotiations, SaaS gross margin analysis, or product-level profitability.
- Prior experience supporting annual operating plans, board reviews, and leadership business reviews.
- Familiarity with engineering, product, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform teams.
- Ability to build structured planning, reporting, governance, and decision-support processes.
- Experience working in B2B SaaS, media-tech, ad-tech, or enterprise technology companies.
Experience
- 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in finance roles, with a focus on business partnering, strategic planning, and financial analysis within high-growth or technology-driven environments.
