Backend Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join a lean, technology-driven team responsible for building scalable and reliable backend systems. The role involves ownership of end-to-end backend features, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams, and contributing to the development of innovative solutions, including AI/LLM-powered features. The position offers significant ownership, influence over product direction, and opportunities for mentorship and growth within a dynamic, remote work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend systems and APIs.
• Take ownership of backend features end-to-end, from understanding requirements to design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
• Build systems capable of supporting the company’s growing marketplace, user base, transactions, and integrations.
• Proactively identify technical challenges and make sound architectural and engineering decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while contributing to engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with the broader team to build a strong engineering culture.
• Work on AI/LLM-powered features and workflows as the product evolves.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of strong backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in backend development, system design, APIs, databases, and distributed/scalable systems.
• Proven experience in building and shipping production-grade backend applications.
• Demonstrated ownership mindset — comfortable working independently without constant guidance.
• Ability to understand product/business requirements and convert them into practical technical solutions.
• Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Educational qualifications: Not specified.
• Backend development expertise.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI/LLM technologies, such as LangChain, OpenAI APIs, or similar tools.
• Experience in building AI-powered applications, agents, or LLM-based workflows.
• Exposure to B2B marketplaces, e-commerce, SaaS, or marketplace platforms.
• Experience working in an early-stage startup or lean engineering team.
• Some frontend awareness or experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Experience

• Experience in building scalable, production-grade applications.
