VP Finance

Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President (VP) of Finance with a strong background in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead and build the finance function for a growing SaaS company operating across India and the US. This senior role requires a proactive thought partner to the CEO who can drive financial strategy, insource outsourced finance work, manage agency relationships, and oversee annual operating plans, monthly reporting, projections, and collections. The ideal candidate will have the ability to think strategically at a CEO level and lead a finance team including a controller and accountants.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, contributing to high-level financial and business strategy rather than focusing solely on bookkeeping.
• Lead the insourcing of finance functions currently outsourced to external agencies.
• Manage relationships with finance agencies to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
• Develop and oversee the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) to align financial goals with company objectives.
• Drive monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and cash collections to maintain financial health.
• Build and lead the finance team by hiring a controller and accountants to support the growing organization.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) within high-quality SaaS companies.
• Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to zoom out and act as a CEO-level thought partner.
• Experience managing outsourced finance functions and agency relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage annual operating plans and monthly financial reporting.
• Excellent leadership skills with experience building and managing finance teams.
• Educational background typically includes a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., MBA, CPA) are a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across India and US teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience as VP Finance or Director of Finance at Series B or later stage SaaS companies such as Postman, Chargebee, Freshworks, or Innovaccer.
• Background in AI companies with strong finance leadership experience.
• Prior experience as Head of Finance or senior FP&A/controllership roles in large organizations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and adapt to evolving business needs.

Experience

• Typically 6-7+ years of progressive finance experience, with a preference for candidates in their early 30s who have fast-tracked their careers in SaaS or related technology sectors.
• Proven track record in senior finance leadership roles, ideally at Series B+ SaaS companies or comparable high-growth technology firms.

Environment

• The role involves working across India and the US, requiring effective cross-border collaboration.
• Likely a hybrid or remote work environment given the geographic spread, with a focus on strategic leadership and team management.

Salary

• Compensation is competitive and flexible, with a range up to INR 40-50 Lakhs per annum, reflecting the seniority and strategic importance of the role.
