Product/UX Designer
Job Summary
The User Experience Designer is responsible for defining and communicating user needs, conducting usability testing, and creating engaging user experiences. This role contributes to the organization's goals by focusing on user-centered design principles, ensuring accessibility, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define and communicate user needs through journey maps, service blueprints, and experience models.
- Plan and conduct usability testing and research activities to inform and validate design decisions, especially for AI-enabled or data-driven features.
- Design and iterate user flows, wireframes, and prototypes at appropriate fidelity for different stages of delivery, including complex or data-heavy interfaces.
- Translate complex service, policy, or technical requirements into clear and accessible user experiences, such as automated processes or AI-supported workflows.
- Ensure designs meet WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and responsive design principles across web, mobile, and desktop platforms.
- Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to align on user outcomes and delivery goals.
- Contribute to and maintain clear design documentation grounded in user needs and business requirements.
- Support knowledge transfer and design capability building within and across project teams.
- Champion user-centered and inclusive design principles within multidisciplinary delivery teams.
Qualifications
- Expert proficiency in Figma, with a strong interest in emerging features such as Figma AI.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX work, including research-led design decisions and evidence of impact.
- Experience working with design systems, standards, and principles, such as the GOV.UK Design System and service standards.
- Solid understanding of WCAG 2.2 accessibility requirements and inclusive design practices.
- Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Ability to clearly communicate design rationale and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools to support research synthesis, ideation, or design iteration.
- Relevant experience designing for AI-enabled products, process automation, or data-heavy user interfaces.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with prototyping tools other than Figma.
- Knowledge of user research methodologies and data analysis.
- Familiarity with front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Experience
- Relevant experience designing user experiences, specifically for AI-enabled products or data-heavy user interfaces, is preferred.
