Job Summary
As an Assistant Manager in the Indirect Tax team, you will play a key role in managing client GST (Goods and Services Tax) compliance, delivering high-quality advisory and audit services, and supporting clients in addressing complex tax issues. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a team-oriented environment, eager to exceed client expectations and contribute to the continued success and reputation of Deloitte’s Tax Practice.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to clients’ GST compliance timelines, including assessments and filing of returns as per statutory requirements.
- Provide GST services to a diverse portfolio of clients, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary tax teams.
- Conduct comprehensive GST incidence reviews and perform GST reviews as part of Internal Audit engagements.
- Assist with internal and external GST-related queries and coordinate with relevant departments for approvals, registrations, and other requirements.
- Support audits or investigations conducted by tax authorities.
- Prepare, file, and process GST returns and refunds accurately and punctually.
- Address queries related to GST returns and collaborate with line managers as necessary.
- Assist in the implementation of recommendations arising from tax reviews and audits.
- Conduct extensive research on critical aspects of GST laws and benchmark against industry best practices to identify opportunities for reducing GST incidence and optimizing cash flow.
- Provide business advisory services to clients under GST laws and participate in planning, developing, and implementing GST strategies.
- Handle technical enquiries and research technical tax issues.
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 0–2 years of experience in Indirect Taxation.
- Strong team player with effective communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills; able to build positive working relationships.
- Persistent and persuasive in client and team interactions.
- Ability to analyze data, use standard processes and tools, and apply technology knowledge to address client challenges.
- Knowledge of current tax legislation across global tax and legal functions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in GST compliance, audits, and advisory.
- Exposure to internal audit processes related to indirect taxation.
- Strong research and analytical skills, especially with respect to GST laws.
- Familiarity with industry benchmarking and tax strategy development.
- Client management and stakeholder coordination experience.

- Relevant experience in Indirect Taxation, preferably involving GST compliance, audit, and advisory services.

Salary
- Estimated Salary Range: ₹13,00,000 – ₹17,00,000 per annum
