Job Description - Resource to Trustees<br /> <br /> Job Intent: SEBI vide its circular Ref no SEBI/HO/IMD/ DF4/ CIR/P/ 2020/0000000151 dated August 10, 2020 has mandated that the Trustees shall appoint a dedicated officer having professional qualification and minimum 5 years of experience in finance and financial services related field. The said circular also stipulates that the officer so appointed, shall be an employee of the Trustees and directly report to the Trustees, and the scope of work for the said officer shall be specified by Trustees from time to time to support the role and responsibilities of the Trustees. The primary role of this resource is strengthening the hands/oversight of Trustees on the affairs of mutual fund/asset management operations. Since the Trustees hold fiduciary responsibility, but not involved in day-to-day operations, the subject resource will act as a conduit to provide valuable insight independently to the Trustees, in addition to the standard format of reporting by the AMC officials & the AMC Board. The subject resource should have relevant experience of mutual fund Business Dynamics, Compliance Framework, Risk Management Practice, including but not limited to the knowledge and understanding of market practices in terms of instruments used for investments, its contractual obligations, legal remedies and possible contingent liabilities and risk exposures.<br /> <br /> The Resource to Trustees reports directly to Board of Trustees (“BOT”).<br /> <br /> 1 JOB ANALYSIS : LIC MUTUAL FUND ASSET MANAGEMENT LTD 2 JOB ANALYSIS : LIC MUTUAL FUND ASSET MANAGEMENT LTD Resource Competencies: Competencies Elements Leadership Attributes • Ownership of Role & Accountability • Understanding & Knowledge of Business • Constructive Participation in Strategy & Execution • Sense of Fiduciary Responsibility Business Acumen • Market and Competitive intelligence • Understanding of Trade-off between Risk & Return • Business Reputation, Compliance Culture & Risk Oversight Analysis and Information Gathering • Analyses data, identifies market trends, draw conclusions and seeks rationales • Identifies and gathers data to support operational and strategic decision-making • Evaluates results of investment decisions and possible risk exposures. • Monitors compliance standard, corporate governance and market practices of the business • Monitors industry news in the national and international geographies to understand best practices, global trends, risk management practices & regulatory changes etc. Key attributes to avoid any possible conflict of interest • Manages any possible conflicts of reporting vis-à-vis standard format of AMC reporting structure • Avoids intrusion in decision making / freedom of operations of AMC • Lays a strong foundation of interaction/ consultation on complex issues/deliverables before execution. • Maintains impeccable integrity • Understands, recognizes and responds to human behaviors and motivators Job Responsibilities: • Provide valuable insights to Trustees in terms of mutual fund business dynamics, Compliance Framework, Risk Management Practices, including market practices in terms of instruments used for investments, its contractual obligations, legal remedies and possible contingent liabilities and risk exposures etc. through a structured reporting. • Analyse data, identify market trends, draw conclusions and seek rationale in order to ensure trade-off between Risk and Return. • Evaluate the results of investment decisions and possible risk exposures. • Understand contractual and legal obligations of contracts entered into by the AMC. Not limited to commercial contracts, but also investments into complex structured obligations (if any). • Gather market and competitive intelligence to rationalize business decisions. • Ensure eye for details in order to ensure fiduciary responsibility, business reputation, compliance culture & risk oversight. • Monitor industry news in the national and international geographies to understand best practices, global trends, risk management practices & regulatory changes etc. • Create a format of direct interaction/reporting by the internal auditors – providing independent insights of affairs of the company through a regular audit process. • Maintain an effective communication channel with the AMC management team. • Manage any possible conflicts of reporting vis-à-vis standard format of AMC reporting structure • Avoid any possible intrusion in decision making / freedom of operations of AMC • Maintain an impeccable integrity, upholding fiduciary responsibility • Understand, recognize and effectively respond to any possible human behaviors & adverse observations. 3 JOB ANALYSIS : LIC MUTUAL FUND ASSET MANAGEMENT LTD Job Specification: • Preferably overall 10 years of relevant experience in financial services and minimum 5 years in Mutual fund industry. • Preferably an MBA / CA / CFA or post graduate from a reputed University. • Leadership qualities & Ability of managing conflict of interest. • Combination knowledge of Compliance and Risk functions. • Strong Networking Skill and Relationship Management. • Must possess relevant business competencies. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Good analytical ability • Ability to see the bigger picture & holistic view. • Ability to effectively uphold fiduciary responsibility. ****** 4 JOB ANALYSIS : LIC MUTUAL FUND ASSET MANAGEMENT LTD
