Job Summary

As the Product–Merchandising Manager, you will lead end-to-end apparel production and product development operations. Your primary focus will be on ensuring timely execution, quality compliance, and cost-effective delivery throughout the complete production lifecycle. This role is vital in aligning production operations with commercial objectives and contributes to the organization’s goals of maintaining high standards of quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Production & Manufacturing Operations:

    • Lead end-to-end apparel production to ensure timely delivery and adherence to production timelines.
    • Maintain production lead times and monitor execution against planned turnaround times (TATs).
    • Ensure products meet defined quality standards and acceptable quality levels (AQL).
    • Monitor production output against ordered quantities while managing rejection and return-to-vendor (RTV) levels.
    • Track production costing, margins, and cost variances within approved tolerance levels.
  • Product Development & Sampling:

    • Oversee sample development, ensuring fast turnaround without compromising quality.
    • Drive sample approvals and uphold development quality standards.
    • Improve sample throughput and optimize development workflows.
    • Manage available inventory and minimize development waste and idle capacity.
  • Capacity Planning & Team Management:

    • Plan manpower and production capacity to align with business requirements and growth plans.
    • Allocate and optimize production resources for maximum efficiency.
    • Build, manage, and mentor both production and development teams.
    • Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment to drive team morale.
  • Process Optimisation & SOP Development:

    • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
    • Identify production bottlenecks and drive continuous critical process improvement.
    • Standardise workflows to enhance productivity and reduce operational inefficiencies.
  • Technology & Systems Management:

    • Ensure the effective use and maintenance of operational systems and production tools.
    • Oversee production tracking, purchase order management, and the accuracy of operational data.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination:

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in design, merchandising, finance, sourcing, and warehousing to ensure smooth execution.
    • Coordinate invoicing, documentation, and operational requirements with relevant departments.
  • Compliance & Operational Hygiene:

    • Maintain high standards of organization, communication, and professional conduct.
    • Ensure accuracy of operational records, documentation, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in merchandising and product development, preferably within the apparel industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software and tools for forecasting, inventory management, and design development.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of product lifecycle management, supply chain logistics, and inventory control.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating teams.
  • Creativity: Innovative thinking with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Design Skills: Ability to create illustrations and produce clean vector files using design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator).
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for quality and accuracy.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
