Job Summary
The Resident Night Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of student housing during the night shift. The role emphasizes ensuring student safety, managing emergency responses, and maintaining operational continuity. The position requires a strong background in security and operations, with the ability to independently handle critical situations, lead night-shift teams, and coordinate with various support functions to uphold the institution’s policies and SOPs.
Responsibilities

Night Operations & Student Safety
- Oversee night-time operations across assigned student residences.
- Conduct regular rounds of hostel buildings, common areas, entry/exit points, and other critical zones.
- Ensure compliance with Student Housing policies, safety procedures, and operational SOPs.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and disciplined residential environment.

Incident & Emergency Management
- Act as the senior on-ground responder for significant night-time incidents.
- Manage and coordinate responses to:
- Medical emergencies
- Fire and life-safety incidents
- Theft or suspected theft
- Security breaches
- Student conflicts and disturbances
- Unauthorized entry
- Property damage
- Missing/welfare-related concerns
- Critical engineering or infrastructure failures
- Coordinate with Security, Wardens, Medical Centre, Engineering, and University leadership.
- Ensure timely escalation, containment, documentation, and follow-up of incidents.

Student & Conflict Management
- Maintain a professional, calm, and approachable presence.
- Handle student concerns and conflicts with maturity and sensitivity.
- De-escalate difficult situations and ensure student safety.
- Maintain confidentiality in sensitive student-related matters.

Coordination with Technical Services
- Collaborate with the night Engineering/Technical Services team for issues related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lifts, water supply, fire systems, and other essential services.
- Ensure critical complaints are responded to within defined timelines.
- Escalate unresolved or high-risk technical issues to leadership.

Team Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate night-shift Housekeeping and Technical Services personnel.
- Ensure manpower deployment as per the approved roster.
- Monitor discipline, grooming, attendance, and professional conduct.
- Conduct periodic surprise checks and operational audits.
- Ensure effective coordination among all night-shift functions.

Reporting & Handover
- Maintain a comprehensive Night Shift Operations & Incident Log.
- Prepare daily night-shift reports covering incidents, security observations, student concerns, emergencies, and operational issues.
- Ensure complete handover of open and critical matters to the day team.
- Maintain accurate and confidential incident records.
Qualifications
Preferred Skills
- Background in Ex-Defence / Armed Forces or Ex-Police / Paramilitary
- Experience in large hotel or hospitality operations
- Familiarity with university or student housing environments
- Experience in large residential or integrated facilities
- Knowledge of corporate campus operations
- Expertise in facility management
Experience
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in security, operations, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large residential facilities and lead night-shift teams.
- Proven track record in emergency management and incident response.
Environment
- Work Setting: Night shift in a student residential campus.
- Location: University Residential Campus.
- Work Conditions: Primarily in-office/on-site with exposure to residential environments, requiring vigilance, physical rounds, and emergency response readiness.
