Job Summary

The Investment Counselor serves as a key representative of the investment team, engaging directly with clients and investors to communicate the firm’s investment philosophy, strategies, and market outlooks. The role involves collaborating closely with the Channel Sales team to articulate complex investment concepts, build client confidence, and support the firm’s client relationship management efforts. The incumbent acts as an extension of the investment team, providing technical insights and investment perspectives to facilitate client understanding and conviction.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the investment team in client and investor interactions, effectively communicating the firm’s investment strategies, portfolio positioning, and market views.
  • Collaborate with the Channel Sales team to articulate the firm’s investment philosophy and strategies at a detailed, technical level suitable for sophisticated clients.
  • Accompany sales professionals during client meetings, providing expert investment insights to support relationship-building and strategic discussions.
  • Explain complex investment concepts clearly and confidently, helping clients understand the rationale behind investment decisions and strategies.
  • Act as a bridge between the investment team and clients, ensuring alignment of investment views and addressing client queries with technical expertise.
  • Support the development of client-specific investment solutions and presentations, tailored to individual client needs and market conditions.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in investments, research, fund management, or investment advisory.
  • Strong investment expertise with a deep understanding of the investment process.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex investment concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working closely with sales or client-facing teams in a financial services environment.
  • Educational qualifications such as BTech, BSc, MSc, CFA, MBA or equivalent in finance, economics, or related fields.
  • Excellent relationship management and client engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience from both buy-side and sell-side firms, including fund management, equity research, investment advisory, PMS, AIF, or AMC.
  • Familiarity with a variety of investment products and strategies.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to articulate investment views confidently in high-stakes client meetings.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in investment-related roles.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients, institutional investors, or in a client-facing capacity within investment firms.

Environment

  • The role is likely to involve a hybrid or in-office setting, with frequent client meetings and collaboration with sales and investment teams.
  • The position requires a professional who can operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, often engaging with sophisticated clients and internal stakeholders.

Salary

  • Estimated range: 40 - 65 Lakhs (fixed) plus performance-based variable pay.
