Job Summary

The Team Lead in General Accounting will report to the Accounting & Reporting Manager and will oversee a team focused on the complete, accurate, and timely completion of Bank Reconciliation and related accounting activities. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with internal guidelines, external regulatory requirements, and standards of best practices within the Finance & Accounting Operations division.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS) team to ensure timely recording of bank transactions in CFIN/ERP.
  • Coordinate with business units, Treasury, and Payroll teams for details of unallocated transactions and prevent spillovers.
  • Maintain and monitor exchange rate uploads in ERP systems, ensuring monthly reconciliation of exchange rates per Control (CAR) requirements.
  • Review reconciled General Ledger (GL) accounts in the group tool for accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer sessions to oversee accounting activities transitioning to Bangalore.
  • Standardize accounting processes across all business clusters.
  • Implement newly developed programs that enhance accounting processes.
  • Address audit queries (internal and external) by providing necessary clarification or supporting documents.
  • Initiate quality improvement initiatives within the finance team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in general accounting, with strong reporting and reconciliation skills.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience focused specifically on Bank Reconciliation activities in a large organization.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in team management.
  • Proficiency in Record to Report (R2R) processes.
  • Flexibility to work in varied shift timings.
  • Strong communication skills and capability to collaborate effectively.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; SAP knowledge is essential.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with finance and accounting standards and regulations.
  • Experience using advanced accounting software or enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Previous experience in quality improvement initiatives within finance.

Experience

A minimum of 10-15 years in relevant accounting roles, with significant exposure to bank reconciliation and team leadership.

Environment

This position is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India and may have a hybrid or on-site work model.
