Job Summary
The Head of Corporate Communication is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping, protecting, and amplifying the corporate narrative of Mahindra Manulife Insurance. This position oversees all aspects of corporate communications, including media relations, public affairs, executive communications, and crisis management. Collaborating closely with the Chief Marketing & Customer Officer, CEO, leadership team, and Board, this role is pivotal in establishing the organization as a credible and respected institution in the Indian insurance market.
Responsibilities
- Corporate Communications Strategy: Design and implement the corporate communications strategy aligned with business objectives and stakeholder priorities, including building the communications function from the ground up.
- Media Relations: Develop a proactive media relations program, building relationships with journalists and publications to ensure favorable coverage.
- Executive Communications: Craft speeches, op-eds, and presentations for the CEO and senior leadership, ensuring alignment with corporate narrative and messaging.
- Internal Communications: Create an internal communication strategy that keeps employees informed and engaged during growth phases, coordinating with HR on cultural initiatives.
- Crisis Communication & Reputation Management: Establish a crisis communications playbook and lead responses to various scenarios while monitoring the organization’s reputation.
- Thought Leadership & Content: Position the organization as a credible voice in the insurance space and manage the development of relevant content for publication.
- Stakeholder & Regulatory Communication: Support investor and Board communication and engage with regulatory bodies.
- Risk, Compliance & Governance: Ensure all communications comply with relevant regulations and manage sensitive information governance.
Qualifications
- Education: Postgraduate degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Management, or equivalent from a premier institution.
- Experience: Minimum 10-13 years in communications, with at least 5 years in a senior or head-of-function role, preferably in financial services such as insurance or banking.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the Indian regulatory environment (e.g., IRDAI, RBI, SEBI) and familiarity with the media landscape.
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing communications in IPO-stage or high-growth organizations.
- Crisis communications experience involving various scenarios.
- Exposure to investor relations and Board-level communications.
Experience
- At least 10-13 years of progressive communications experience, specifically in managing corporate communications for large financial services organizations in India.
