Job Summary
The Capacity Management Analyst is a senior role responsible for orchestrating end-to-end Cloud Capacity planning. This position enables capacity supply, mitigates obstacles, and optimizes across complex Public Cloud deployments. The primary purpose is to forecast, supply, provision, and deploy resources efficiently while utilizing technical IT infrastructure expertise. The role also emphasizes continuous improvement of processes, enhancing customer experiences, and integrating advanced principles such as FinOps.
Responsibilities
- Operational Support & Escalations: Provide day-to-day support for capacity-related issues and escalations. Maintain an escalation matrix and ensure SLA compliance at all levels. Track and report metrics such as ticket resolution rate and turnaround time.
- Forecasting & Planning: Establish and maintain capacity forecasts in collaboration with Microsoft or other Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and internal stakeholders. Convert forecasts into actionable capacity requests and generate/analyses Forecast vs Consumption reports.
- Governance & Documentation: Define and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all capacity processes. Document all processes, escalation workflows, and governance models. Conduct regular training sessions on capacity-related education.
- Technical Initiatives: Manage technology migrations, SKU benchmarking, and optimization strategies. Drive technical evolution initiatives such as SSDv1 to v2 and Spot VM to reduce Cost of Delivery (COD) and enhance cost optimizations.
- Automation & Optimization: Reduce manual effort through automation and self-service models. Enhance processes for unified platforms to streamline data exchange between teams and cloud providers. Develop capacity workflows with end-to-end automation frameworks.
- Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for capacity metrics and trends. Utilize analytics to identify anomalies and consumption patterns, and manage the reallocation of cloud resources.
Qualifications
- Education: A degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred), capacity planning, forecasting, and resource optimization. Good knowledge of Power BI, automation tools, and scripting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience: Basic understanding of ServiceNow, knowledge of VM lifecycle, SKU performance, and cloud elasticity.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with cloud governance practices.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
- A background in IT infrastructure or application engineering would be an advantage.
