Website: https://uppercase.co.in/ Role: Assistant Manager/ Manager - Retail Business Development Function: Retail Sales Location: Kolkata/ Bangalore Individual contributor Geography responsibility: East/ South regions Reporting to: To be confirmed later The Retail Expansion Manager will be responsible for identifying and securing new store locations in both existing and new geographies/markets. This role involves scouting potential store sites on high streets and in malls, assessing sales potential, and predicting sales performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong retail background with extensive experience in new store openings and market analysis. Candidate Profile: Masters/ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management. Proven experience in retail expansion, new store openings, and market analysis. Excellent negotiation, project management, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant retail management software. Willingness to travel extensively as required by the role. Key Responsibilities: 1. Market Research and Analysis: • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential new store locations in both existing and untapped markets. • Analyze demographic, economic, and competitive data to assess the viability of potential store sites. • Utilize sales forecasting tools and techniques to predict sales potential for new locations. 2. Site Scouting and Selection: • Scout and evaluate high streets, malls, and other potential retail spaces for new store openings. • Assess the suitability of potential sites based on factors such as foot traffic, accessibility, and proximity to competitors. • Negotiate lease terms and agreements with property owners and landlords. 3. Sales Potential Assessment: • Conduct site visits and analyze location-specific data to estimate sales potential. • Utilize historical sales data, market trends, and consumer behavior insights to forecast store performance. • Develop detailed reports and presentations on potential sites, including sales projections and ROI estimates. 4. New Store Openings: • Oversee the end-to-end process of opening new stores, including site selection, lease negotiation, coordinating and collaborating with VM & Projects team for store design & setup and other teams (marketing, operations, finance) to ensure successful store launches as per committed timelines. 5. Stakeholder Collaboration: • Work closely with senior management to align expansion strategies with company goals and objectives. • Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, property developers, and other external partners. • Provide regular updates and recommendations to key stakeholders on expansion progress and opportunities. 6. Performance Monitoring: • Monitor the performance of new store locations post-opening to ensure they meet sales and profitability targets. • Implement strategies to optimize store performance and address any issues that arise. • Analyze performance data and make data-driven recommendations for future expansion efforts.
