Job Summary

The DGM / AGM – Woven Fabric Domestic Marketing role focuses on driving domestic business growth by acquiring, managing, and expanding relationships with leading Indian apparel brands, retail chains, and fashion houses. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring consistent order flow, maintaining margin discipline, and fostering long-term strategic partnerships. The candidate will need strong commercial acumen, brand-side selling capability, and a deep understanding of fabric development, costing, and seasonal buying cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Key Account Management:

    • Acquire and grow domestic brand and retail accounts across mens/women/kidswear, casualwear, and value fashion.
    • Develop long-term relationships with brand heads, sourcing heads, fabric managers, and merchandisers.
    • Convert fabric developments into bulk orders with repeatability.
    • Ensure order continuity, wallet-share expansion, and category penetration within existing accounts.
  • Fabric & Product Commercialization:

    • Collaborate closely with design, R&D, and sampling teams to develop fabrics aligned to brand DNA and price points.
    • Understand and sell various fabrics such as Dobby, Structure, Stretch, Blends, and Sustainable fabrics.
    • Translate technical feasibility into commercial proposals.
  • Costing, Pricing & Margin Control:

    • Own price negotiation with brands, ensuring protection of company margin thresholds.
    • Coordinate with Production Planning and Control (PPC), production, and finance for accurate costing and avoidance of loss-making SKUs.
    • Strategically balance volume versus margin across accounts.
  • Order Execution Coordination:

    • Serve as the single-point interface between customers and internal teams.
    • Ensure timely approvals, on-time production starts, and dispatch adherence.
    • Address escalations related to quality, delivery, or rejections in a solution-oriented manner.
  • Market Intelligence & Strategy:

    • Track domestic fashion trends, competitor fabric offerings, and brand price positioning.
    • Provide market feedback to management for capacity planning and product direction.
    • Identify new growth segments such as value retail, fast fashion, and private labels.
  • Team & Process Contribution:

    • Mentor junior marketing and merchandising team members (if applicable).
    • Support Customer Relationship Management (CRM) discipline, Management Information System (MIS) reporting, and forecasting.
    • Represent the company at trade fairs, buyer meets, and industry forums.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • 10-15 years in domestic textile marketing.
    • Proven track record with Indian brands and large retailers.
  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
    • Excellent understanding of fabric construction, GSM, yarn counts, and finishes.
    • Knowledge of cost drivers in textiles.
    • Commercially sharp, data-driven, and results-oriented.
    • Comfortable interacting with CXO and senior sourcing leaders.
    • Willing to travel extensively across India.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with dynamic, competitive domestic markets and multiple brand interfaces, specifically with groups such as Alok, Mandana, BRFL, NSL, or similar.

Experience

10-15 years in domestic textile marketing with a proven track record in dealing with Indian brands and large retailers.

Environment

The position is based at the Gurgaon headquarters with pan-India travel requirements. The work environment involves regular interactions with clients and internal teams, necessitating strong organizational and communication skills.
