Mainframe Scheduler

Job Summary

The Mainframe Scheduler is responsible for monitoring and managing batch jobs within the mainframe environment. This role ensures the smooth execution of scheduled tasks, resolves conflicts, and maintains the scheduler database, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the organization's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor scheduled batch jobs and ensure timely execution.
  • Resolve batch scheduling conflicts through root cause analysis and change management.
  • Monitor scheduler-related incidents and recommend changes to the scheduler database.
  • Perform required batch setup activities for ad-hoc requests.
  • Schedule on-request batch jobs that require immediate execution.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CA7, Control M, and TWS Tool.
  • Strong knowledge of z/OS and related CA/BMC products.
  • Expertise in SMPE (System Modification Program/Extended).
  • Proficiency in Assembler, Rexx, and CLIST.
  • Good knowledge of system initialization and tuning.
  • Experience with SYSPLEX and HCD (Hardware Configuration Definition) working with IODFs (Input/Output Device Files).
  • Understanding of disaster recovery processes and storage concepts.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Educational qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of IBM specialty engines and their performance.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and procedures.
  • Ability to perform diagnostics and root cause analysis.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in mainframe scheduling and batch monitoring.

Environment

  • Hybrid work mode, combining remote and in-office work settings.

Salary

  • Estimated salary range: 3,500,000.
