Job Summary
The Vice President – Sales & Marketing is a senior leadership role responsible for driving disciplined, profitable growth through the development and execution of domestic and international sales strategies, brand building, and pricing discipline. This role will establish and expand new markets, build a robust export sales footprint, and elevate the company's brand presence. Working closely with the CEO and VP – Operations & NPD, the incumbent will shape product offerings based on market insights and lead the transformation from price-led to margin-led growth.
Responsibilities
- Own the domestic dealer sales organization, delivering regional growth targets and expanding into new markets by building dealer networks and restoring channel trust.
- Establish and lead the export sales function, including hiring the team, defining target markets (Africa, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America), and converting leads into repeatable revenue streams.
- Build a comprehensive marketing and brand strategy, including brand positioning, digital marketing, dealer co-marketing, and trade fair participation, to shift focus from price competition to brand preference.
- Develop and own pricing architecture, dealer margins, and channel incentives to promote margin growth and reduce reliance on discounting.
- Partner with the VP – Operations & NPD to incorporate market and customer insights into product development, ensuring offerings are aligned with market needs and category-defining.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing commercial team across Sales, Export, and Marketing functions, ensuring organizational scalability.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to shape product decisions, improve channel trust, and implement strategic initiatives for sustainable growth.
Qualifications
- Proven channel-building experience, with a track record of expanding or establishing dealer/distribution networks into new markets.
- Demonstrated success in building export/international sales functions, particularly into Africa, Middle East, or Southeast Asia.
- Strong expertise in pricing and margin discipline, leading businesses out of price-led competition through differentiation and channel economics.
- Experience in building and scaling commercial teams, with the ability to lead Sales, Export, and Marketing as the CEO’s primary commercial contact.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, capable of developing a high-performance team.
- Deep understanding of B2B sales, dealer networks, and channel strategies.
- Educational qualifications: No specific degree mandated; candidates are evaluated based on experience and proven track record.
Preferred Skills
- Background in tractors, farm equipment, or related industrial/auto-ancillary manufacturing sectors with strong dealer-channel exposure.
- Experience in building marketing and brand functions from a low base within a traditionally sales-led organization.
- Familiarity with export logistics, compliance, and international trade regulations.
- Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience
- Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in B2B sales, channel development, and export markets.
- Proven success in building and leading commercial teams and driving market expansion in industrial or agricultural machinery sectors.
Environment
- The role is ideally based at the Chandannagar plant, with close coordination with NPD and Operations teams; Kolkata HQ is also acceptable.
- The work environment involves collaborative leadership, cross-functional teamwork, and strategic planning.
- The position may require travel to domestic and international markets, trade fairs, and customer sites.
Salary
Competitive, benchmarked to industry standards for a VP-level commercial P&L leader in agri-equipment/industrial manufacturing, commensurate with experience.
