Job Summary
The Vice President of Portfolio Operations will be a key addition to the portfolio operations team, supporting the expansion and deepening engagement with founders. This role is vital for enabling value creation through collaboration with portfolio companies, focusing on business growth, strategic alignment, operational excellence, and long-term value resulting in successful follow-on rounds and exits.
Responsibilities

Portfolio Management & Performance Oversight
- Build and institutionalize the portfolio management playbook.
- Oversee portfolio performance to ensure alignment with the firm’s strategic and financial objectives.
- Conduct operational and financial reviews; provide actionable recommendations.
- Identify and drive initiatives to improve scalability, profitability, and efficiency.

Strategic & Operational Support
- Collaborate with portfolio companies' CXOs on strategic initiatives and address key business challenges.
- Support market expansion, go-to-market strategies, new product rollouts, and digital transformation efforts.
- Act as a thought partner across core operational areas including sales, marketing, finance, product, and HR.

Financial Planning & Governance
- Track key financial metrics, unit economics, and growth indicators.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and internal controls.
- Maintain strong governance, compliance, and board-level reporting standards.

Board Representation
- Serve as a board member or observer for select portfolio companies.
- Contribute strategic insights during board discussions and challenge constructively.
- Collaborate with promoters to strengthen board governance and operational accountability.

Follow-On Investment Strategy and Exit
- Partner with the investment lead on internal investment theses for follow-on rounds.
- Monitor and evaluate capital deployment efficiency in collaboration with the investment team.
- Draft exit roadmaps and assist in securing profitable exits.

Market Intelligence
- Keep abreast of sector trends, macroeconomic shifts, and emerging playbooks in private equity and venture ecosystems.
- Provide insights to enhance portfolio company strategies and internal investment decisions.

Portfolio Reporting
- Draft and present portfolio value creation roadmaps and exit roadmaps internally.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly portfolio reviews.
- Document presentations of portfolio companies, operational strategies, and performance for the fund’s limited partners (LPs).
Qualifications
- 8-12 years of experience, with a strong foundation in top-tier management consulting (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Accenture) followed by experience in startup strategy roles (e.g., Founder’s Office, Chief of Staff, Strategy Lead).
- Master’s degree from a reputed institution.
- Strong understanding of the Indian SME and growth-stage ecosystem.
- Proven experience in driving operational excellence and value creation in early or growth-stage companies.
- Deep expertise in financial analysis, business strategy, and stakeholder management.
- Excellent communication, articulation, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Prior board/advisory experience or close collaboration with founders is a strong plus.
