The company seeks to provide discretionary investment management services across a comprehensive range of asset classes, integrating advanced technology solutions such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhance investment decision-making. The culture within Project Shiv fosters innovation, accountability, and a commitment to client success.

Job Summary

The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) will be a critical founding executive at Project Shiv, responsible for developing and implementing the investment philosophy and ensuring successful outcomes for clients. The role demands a strategic mindset and hands-on leadership in managing a diverse set of portfolios while maintaining rigorous standards of risk and performance measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Own the investment philosophy: Define and articulate the investment beliefs, processes, and framework for portfolio construction to clients and the market.
  • Own asset allocation: Set strategic and tactical asset allocation strategies, including model portfolios and glide paths, aligned with client objectives and risk profiles.
  • Own performance and risk: Establish the risk governance framework, including concentration and drawdown disciplines; monitor and act on portfolio performance as needed.
  • Lead the investment team: Recruit and guide portfolio managers, investment specialists, and research analysts, ensuring high standards of rigor and intellectual integrity.
  • Govern selection: Manage the selection of managers and investment vehicles across funds, Portfolio Management Services (PMS), Alternative Investment Funds (AIF), and alternatives, ensuring thorough due diligence and a well-governed approved list.
  • Anchor suitability: Ensure all portfolios align with clients' Investment Policy Statements (IPS) and are suitable through enforced frameworks rather than advisory approaches.
  • Harness the platform: Leverage Project Shiv’s data and AI/ML tools to enhance investment judgment and scalability across a larger client base, ensuring auditability.
  • Operate within the regime: Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to maintain sound investment processes in accordance with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) PMS/Investment Advisor (IA) regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 15–20+ years in investment management with significant experience in Chief Investment Officer, senior portfolio management, or head-of-investments roles, demonstrating a proven track record.
  • Knowledge: Deep expertise in multi-asset investments, including equity, debt, and alternatives, with strong skills in portfolio construction, risk management, and performance evaluation.
  • Philosophy Development: Experience in defining and creating an investment philosophy and process rather than merely executing pre-defined strategies.
  • Regulatory Understanding: Strong understanding of the SEBI PMS/IA framework with a fiduciary focus on suitability.
  • Qualifications: CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or equivalent professional accreditation; disciplined and evidence-driven decision maker.
  • Personal Attributes: High levels of integrity and accountability, with a strong sense of ownership for investment outcomes.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in building a PMS/AIF strategy or a model portfolio framework from the ground up.
  • Proven experience managing capital for HNI/UHNI clients.
  • Familiarity with quantitative investment strategies and AI-assisted investment processes.
  • A recognized public voice in the investment community with insights on market trends.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15–20 years in investment management roles, particularly in senior leadership or executive positions.
