Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Data Science Consultant with approximately 7 years of experience, primarily within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in handling end-to-end analytics projects—from extracting and preprocessing data from databases to developing robust predictive models—while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards such as HIPAA and GDPR. The role will support our healthcare data initiatives by providing expert insights, innovative solutions, and clear, impactful presentations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Data Acquisition & Preprocessing: Develop processes to extract and transform data from various databases; address challenges such as missing data, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Model Development & Deployment: Design and build predictive models using a range of algorithms (e.g., Decision Trees, Random Forests, etc.) and provide clear rationale for model choices; optimize model performance by tackling issues related to underfitting and overfitting.
• Technical Analysis & Problem Solving: Analyze complex datasets from the healthcare sector and extract actionable insights; demonstrate a deep understanding of bias-variance trade-offs in model selection.
• Regulatory Compliance & Data Privacy: Ensure all data handling, analysis, and reporting processes comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (U.S.) and GDPR (EU).
• Stakeholder Engagement & Presentation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate complex technical findings into clear, compelling presentations for diverse audiences.
• Consultative Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in healthcare data science, advising on project strategy and mentoring junior team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: Approximately 7 years of hands-on experience in data science with a focus on healthcare, medical, or pharmaceutical projects.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in data extraction from databases, with proficiency in SQL and other data management tools.
  • Strong command over machine learning techniques, including model selection and troubleshooting underfitting/overfitting.
  • Proven experience in handling missing data and applying data imputation techniques.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, and other healthcare compliance requirements.
• Communication Skills: Excellent presentation and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to convey technical concepts clearly.
• Problem Solving: Ability to articulate challenging project scenarios and describe effective resolutions.

Preferred Skills

• Healthcare Domain Expertise: Prior experience with healthcare analytics, medical records, or pharmaceutical project case studies.
• Analytical Tools & Programming: Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages; familiarity with key Python machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Project Management: Experience working in agile environments and collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Consulting Experience: Prior exposure to consulting roles, with strengths in articulating project challenges and navigating technical interviews.
