Job Summary

The VP - Head of Operations for Gift City will oversee the operational functions of the Fund Management Entity (FME) within HSBC Asset Management India Pvt. Ltd. at GIFT City. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing risk, and facilitating efficient operational processes for the IFSC unit. The incumbent will act as the primary liaison with regulators, external service providers, and internal stakeholders to support the growth and integrity of the business, contributing to HSBC’s purpose of delivering borderless banking and world-class wealth management services.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance & Governance: Ensure all activities adhere to IFSCA (Fund Management) Regulations, circulars, and guidelines. Oversee timely submission of reports, maintain internal controls, and promote strong governance standards.
• Regulatory Liaison & Supervisory Engagement: Coordinate regulatory filings, respond to IFSCA queries, support inspections, and facilitate audits to ensure regulatory readiness.
• Risk Management, AML/KYC & Control Environment: Oversee risk assessment frameworks, internal controls, and AML/CFT compliance. Manage investor onboarding processes and escalate alerts as per compliance protocols.
• Operations Management (IFSC Unit Oversight): Supervise daily operations supporting AIF lifecycle activities, including launches, onboarding, reporting, and operational readiness for new schemes. Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers for seamless operations.
• Investor Protection & Complaints Management: Address investor complaints promptly and ensure effective redressal mechanisms are in place.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with regulators, fund administrators, trustees, and internal departments to ensure smooth operational functioning.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification or postgraduate degree/diploma in Finance, Accountancy, Business Management, Commerce, or CFA; or CA.
• 3-10 years of experience in operations within the Financial Services sector.
• Strong understanding of IFSCA regulations (FME, AIF, Non-Retail Offerings) and SEBI regulations.
• Experience in regulatory engagement and inspection readiness.
• Demonstrated risk management and internal controls expertise.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across front office, operations, finance, compliance, and external service providers.
• Proficient in regulatory submissions, board updates, and sound judgment under time constraints.

• Prior experience working in GIFT City.

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of AIF and non-retail fund offerings.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 to 10 years of relevant experience in financial services operations, with a focus on fund management, compliance, or related areas.
• Prior exposure to regulatory filings, audit processes, and risk management frameworks.

Environment

• The role is based primarily in GIFT City, with an initial requirement to be based out of Mumbai for a few weeks.
• The work environment involves collaboration with internal teams, external regulators, and service providers.
• The position may require occasional travel or extended hours to meet regulatory deadlines and manage operational activities.
