Role Overview The SEO Lead is the operational backbone of the SEO function. This role exists to ensure flawless execution, team management, and client retention. The SEO Lead will manage people, design systems, and drive predictable growth across accounts, allowing the founder to focus on business expansion. Success in this role is defined by three outcomes: 1. Seamless people and project management. 2. Strong strategic planning and execution for clients. 3. High client retention and culture alignment within the team. Key Responsibilities • Strategy & Planning: Build monthly and quarterly SEO growth plans (MOM/QOQ) for each client. Present and align with both the founder and the client. • Operations & Delivery: Oversee day-to-day execution, task allocation, and quality assurance across multiple client accounts. • Team Management: Lead 2 SEO Executives; conduct reviews, training, and one-on-one sessions. Build a healthy, accountable work culture. • Process Ownership: Implement and improve internal SOPs; track adherence, automate reporting, and maintain system discipline. • Client Management: Attend client meetings, provide performance updates, and maintain satisfaction through structured review mechanisms. • Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly updates highlighting performance, progress, and opportunities. • Culture & Learning: Embed the process-first mindset of Indian Marketers, and roll out ongoing learning initiatives shared by the founder. Day-to-Day Activities • Host daily huddles and check project health. • Review task completion, dependencies, and blockers. • Conduct weekly progress checks and prepare summary reports. • Run monthly team and client review sessions with documented feedback. • Create quarterly growth roadmaps and performance audits. • Maintain process documentation and improvement logs. Performance Metrics • Quantitative: o Client retention rate >1 year o Growth in rankings and traffic aligned with sold targets o Client and team satisfaction scores ≥8/10 o On-time delivery and SLA adherence • Qualitative: o Cultural and process alignment o Founder dependency reduction (operational independence) o Implementation of new learning and system improvements Skills & Experience Required Category Requirements Experience Technical Skills 5+ years in SEO with proven team management experience On-page, off-page, and technical SEO, reporting dashboards, analytics interpretation Tools Leadership Skills GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Excel (non-negotiable), Sheets, Notion Team management, communication, mentoring, feedback systems Soft Skills Knowledge Areas Listening, persuasion, client communication, documentation, presentation SEO frameworks, business understanding, basic coding awareness Nice to Have Experience in sales/pre-sales or agency growth contexts Behavioural Traits • High energy, integrity, and persistence. • Honest communicator with a service-first mindset. • Process-driven — operates with rigour and clarity. • Calm under pressure and approachable to team members. • Learns fast, adapts quickly, and drives improvement. Work Structure • Work Hours: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Alternate Saturdays half-day) • Work Mode: 100% On-site (Mumbai) • Training: 20-day structured onboarding and systems training • Interview Process: 1.
