Role Overview
The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, production planning, inventory management, logistics, and distribution for a fast-paced snacking/FMCG environment. The role ensures uninterrupted production, optimal inventory levels, efficient warehouse operations, and timely delivery to distributors, modern trade, and e-commerce partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Source and procure key raw materials such as edible oils, seasonings, packaging films, laminates, pulses, flour, etc.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships to secure quality materials at competitive rates.
- Conduct vendor audits, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Maintain buffer stocks for critical raw materials based on production forecasts.
2. Production Planning & Coordination
- Create production schedules aligned with sales forecasts and seasonal demand spikes.
- Coordinate with plant operations, QA, and R&D for smooth production runs.
- Monitor raw material consumption and reduce wastage through planning accuracy.
- Ensure planning efficiency for SKUs with varying shelf life.
3. Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Maintain optimal inventory for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods.
- Implement FIFO/FEFO practices for food products.
- Oversee warehouse operations—storage, stacking, dispatch, and safety protocols.
- Reduce inventory ageing, pilferage, and stock obsolescence.
4. Logistics, Dispatch & Distribution
- Manage transportation and dispatches to distributors, CFA, modern trade hubs, and online marketplaces.
- Optimize routes, freight costs, and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with logistics partners for on-time deliveries and shipment visibility.
- Ensure compliance with statutory norms (E-way bills, documentation, food transport norms).
5. Demand Planning & Sales Coordination
- Analyze sales patterns and translate them into accurate demand forecasts.
- Coordinate with sales & marketing teams for new product launches and regional demand.
- Identify slow-moving and fast-moving SKUs and recommend actions.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of FMCG/snacking raw materials, packaging, and shelf-life requirements.
- Expertise in production planning, distribution management, and plant coordination.
- Data-driven approach with analytical skills for forecasting and inventory control.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP / SAP / advanced Excel.
- Problem-solving, time management, and team leadership abilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain/Operations preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in FMCG/snacking/dairy/bakery/foods industry.
- Experience handling high SKU volumes and fast-moving supply chains.
