Job Summary
The Business Applications Director is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy for business applications, aligning with the group’s overarching goals. This role focuses on transitioning legacy systems, driving digital transformation initiatives, and ensuring the effective implementation and optimization of ERP systems.
Responsibilities
- Vision and Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for business applications; transition legacy systems while optimizing value during new solutions implementation; drive digital transformation initiatives.
- Project Implementation and Support: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics 365 FO, CRM, SAP) for group companies; maintain legacy ERP systems effectively during transitions; create service level agreements (SLAs) for managing expectations and delivering quality support services.
- Team Development and Centre of Excellence (CoE): Build and lead a high-performing team for application development and support; establish and build a CoE with skilled consultants for standardizing best practices; promote continuous learning for the team.
- P&L Management: Own and manage the P&L of the business applications division; drive revenue generation; monitor costs and ensure profitability; prepare and present financial reports to the Board and Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO).
- Vendor and Partner Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors; negotiate contracts and SLAs to ensure reliable service delivery; monitor vendor performance.
- Reporting and Governance: Report regularly on project progress, P&L performance, and strategic initiatives; establish governance frameworks for application deployment and ensure compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree / MBA is preferred; a background in finance is an added advantage.
- Experience: 15+ years in ERP and business applications management; proven track record in managing P&L and delivering profitable operations; extensive experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 FO, SAP, Sage, JD Edwards); strong leadership experience managing teams and projects.
- Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills; expertise in integration tools; relevant certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Preferred Skills
- Proven track record of successful ERP implementations and optimizations tailored to FMCG requirements; ability to adapt to the dynamic nature of the FMCG industry.
Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in ERP and business applications management is required.
Environment
- The position typically involves working in a globally distributed team, both onsite and remotely.
