Job Summary
The Assistant Manager – HR Shared Services and Benefits is responsible for managing end-to-end HR operations related to employee lifecycle processes, benefits administration, payroll, statutory compliance, and HR data management. This role ensures seamless execution of HR functions, drives process improvements, and maintains compliance with statutory requirements, contributing to the organization’s overall HR efficiency and employee experience.
Responsibilities
- Drive HR operations across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, transfers, promotions, confirmations, separations, full & final settlements, employee records, and HR master data, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Review and enhance onboarding and offboarding processes by identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and employee experience issues; implement improvements, standardization, and automation.
- Manage employee benefits administration, including medical, life, and accident insurance; coordinate with brokers, TPAs, and vendors for enrollment, renewals, claims, employee movements, and issue resolution.
- Oversee payroll operations, including payroll inputs, validation, reconciliation, closure, and coordination with payroll vendors, Finance, HR Business Partners, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Own statutory and payroll compliance, including PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Gratuity, Labour Welfare Fund, Income Tax/TDS, and other applicable requirements; ensure timely filings, accurate records, audits, and closure of observations.
- Maintain organization structure and organogram data, ensuring accuracy and alignment with approved changes; liaise with HRIS team to update reporting relationships, positions, and master data.
- Prepare and manage HR MIS, dashboards, and analytics covering headcount, payroll costs, employee movements, attrition, benefits, absenteeism, and other key HR metrics to support leadership decision-making.
- Establish strong process governance and controls across Payroll, HR Operations, Benefits, Compliance, and HRIS, including SOPs, documentation, audits, reconciliations, and data validation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digitization across HR operations; collaborate with HRIS, IT, Finance, vendors, and stakeholders to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Own assigned HR operations projects from identification through execution and closure, demonstrating accountability, attention to detail, confidentiality, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Qualifications
- Educational Qualification: Masters in HR
- Experience: 3–6 years of progressive experience in Payroll, HR Operations, Benefits, and Statutory Compliance
- Strong hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll processing and validation
- Experience in managing employee benefits and coordinating with insurance/benefit vendors
- Good understanding of Indian labour laws and statutory requirements
- Experience in preparing HR MIS, payroll reports, dashboards, and management reports
- Exposure to HRIS/payroll systems and process automation is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, payroll systems, and HRIS
- Working knowledge of statutory compliances including PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Gratuity, Labour Welfare Fund, and Income Tax/TDS
- Knowledge of employee benefits administration and insurance processes
- Strong HR MIS and reporting capabilities
- Experience with HR analytics tools such as Power BI (preferred)
